I’ve been in the Internet Marketing world for many years, and have tried outsourcing many times, often encountering the same problems over and over again.

Not just problems of staffing, or training, but also of cultural and personality styles of a particular country. Each culture is different, different work styles, different manners.

For Example, read to the end of this mission statement to learn about “HIYA” (pronounced hee-yah), which is particular problem in the Philippines.

JadeSource solves these common outsourcing problems for you:

  1. LANGUAGE: The language barrier-even in English speaking countries-can be impossible. The words are the same, but the spoken and written syntax is not suitable for writing. Indian or Slavic English Speakers are immediately noticeable to Western Native English Speakers in the U.S. Canada, UK, Australia or South Africa. It’s English, but not necessarily usable for content. And giving instructions can take an immense amount of time since the outsourcer needs to understand the nuances of what you want.
  2. FINDING QUALIFIED CANDIDATES: There are many venues to look for outsource workers, from oDesk to Elance. But even with these umbrellas of protection, you encounter the same frustrations you would find hiring somebody on your own from craigslist or elsewhere.
Your fee is protected, but you didn’t get the work done. The time is wasted.
  3. DISAPPEARING: Outsourcers will simply fall out of contact with you, and evaporate. This can be for honest reasons of family matters, illness, etc. This can be after you’ve spent hours and money training them.
  4. TRAINING:You will eventually need to train an outsourcer to do a particular task that they have never done, and it might require watching videos and implementing the training. It can take weeks for the person to learn and you are paying them by the hour. In one instance a colleague asked a new outsourcer to watch a series of videos and build WordPress sites per the instructions in the videos. The outsourcer wanted to succeed, but took over 15 weeks (at full time hourly pay) to half-build one website. The outsourcer was too ashamed to ask for help, and was doing the best they could. It just illustrates how difficult training can be. More often, the outsourcer will start the training because they want the work, get overwhelmed and just disappear. Hopefully without the training materials you have paid for.
  5. COUNTRIES and CULTURES: There are many countries out there in this great outsourcing world, but not all have suitable candidates for all tasks.
  6. MANAGING PROJECTS: Once you find a candidate, you have to manage them, and hope they just don’t disappear after you’ve spent the time to train them and bring them up to speed.
Disappearing outsourcers is probably the worst problem about outsourcing! It can be impossible, and it is not recommended to try and find, an outsource project manager in a particular country. They can disappear too.
  7. PAYMENT AND DELIVERY how do you pay somebody on the far side of the world, if PayPal is not an option? How do you ensure the work gets done if you partially pay somebody?
  8. STRESS and STATUS: Once you assign the job, and you perhaps make a partial payment, how do you know that they will deliver and more importantly, deliver the quality you hope for?
